Community Tasting Notes (4) Median Score: 90 points

  • Held for five years. Decanted through a coffee filter - significant sediment. Confused and alcoholic for the first 30 minutes, then settled down. After 90 min., medium garnet with slight orange limb; earthy, licorice nose; plums, dark fruit, smoke and tasteful acid on the palate; candied dark fruit and fine tannins on a long finish. Enjoyable and very well balanced.

  • In total agreement with Dano right down to the cheese choice. It's possible that with a little aging this could become an exceptional value. Plums, beef stew aromas, some sweet tobacco, smooth integrated tannins. A plush decedent experience.

  • Not sure what the other reviewer tasted, or didn't taste in this wine, but I found it quite yummy. It is 70% Syrah which is why this wine tastes so damn good. It's big and slightly jammy and very smooth. No intrusive tannins. Certainly not a tounge-sucking dry wine like many Cab's I've tasted. I served this wine at a friendly gathering recently and everyone enjoyed this wine, so it's just not my taste buds. My wife and I are drinking this 2011 now while we're eating wonderful La Brea Bakery Panini bread with some dry Gouda which is a perfect pairing for this wine. I have one bottle left. Time to buy more.

  • Overly viscous mouthfeel. Just sweet pruney fruit without any acid or complexity. A wholly uninteresting and overpriced wine, even at < $20.
