  • The cork on this wine was a bit funky, the juice seemingly having penetrated it entirely which was an initial concern. However, no harm done to the wine, which was quite lovely. A very pale strawlike color in the glass, classic nose of petrol, with some peaches thrown in, mixed with a definite vibrancy. Very lively acidity on the palate, but not overwhelming. The wine has great mouth feel, and is quite big & viscous for a riesling, which offsets the high acidity level very nicely indeed. Tart but ripe apples, petrol, loads of minerals & a delicate sweetness make this wine sing. Opened with Indian food, the wine paired perfectly and was a joy to drink. The low 9% alcohol is another nice element of the wine. If I didn't know what this wine cost me, I would've thought it to be far more expensive. A stupendous bargain this one is! Drinking great now, this baby still has a long life ahead of it. Lovely wine.

  • Really very nice wine. Certainly spatlese weight from this ripe vintage, but excellent acidity and carries residual sugar with grace. Minerals in abundance and luscious fruits including apple and citrus. Lovely match with arctic char sauteed in butter/wine/capers.
A glass finished after salad with vinaigrette -- certainly a challenging thing for a wine to do -- stood up well because of the richness and acidity, with a prominent grapefruit flavor brought out by the vinaigrette.
Drinking great now but no hurry. I'd bet on this to be very good at age 15 too.
