PnP. We were surprised by how well this bottle of 11+ year old Syrah held up. It was well balanced and a bit "soft" in the way that all of the components blended over those years. The color was a dark purple to a watery rim. The nose put forth dark red fruits, which followed through to the medium bodied palate, along with some spice and pepper, and a touch of minerality. The acidity was nicely balancing, and the tannins were completely integrated. For best results this wine should probably be enjoyed within the next year or so.

Took a while to open up, but turned out very nice example of Syrah. Mild spicy, smoky, anise flavors, not tannic, smooth on the finish. Excellent bottle of wine from a great vineyard.

Color: Very dark almost opaque violet. Aroma: Reticent. Bacon fat, cinnamon, black berry fruit. Palate: Very structured and complex with green, immature tannins. Intriguing mix of red and black fruits with notes of spice, leather and herbs. Flavors dance and change focus, with no one standing out for very long. Will benefit from a few years in the cellar.

I think this will turn into a winner, but not clear right now. The bouquet is a little dominated by wood with vanilla, caramel, toast notes. There is clearly a pleasant perfume underneath with hints of violets and black fruit. Clearly needs time to integrate the wood better which I think it will given the concentration of the wine. The palate is velvety with smooth sweet tannins, a voluptuous mouthfeel and a pleasant finish.
