Late night at Maison Dakota. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour going garnet. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of stony earth minerals, wild dark red cherries, slight leather with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), smooth medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of savoury earth, stony minerality, wild dark red cherries, red plum, sweet licorice and spice. Long spicy finish. Very good quality. Complex Volnay Chenes. Gentle elegance with a bit of a wild dark edge to it.

i read the previous notes on this wine with some degree of skeptism. but F me, this baby was glorious from the get go. Red fruit, good acid. this wine was all about balance. and it got a smidge better on day two. REBUY

Opens up well; initially saline notes then red fruited with a beguiling mineral crystalline aspect, it has tautness and a mysterious side to its personality; it grows on you and seduces you, transcendentally, as it performs its kabuki dance; by the next day it has receded back into its shell to a whispering incense kiss. A magical mystery tour and a 2020 auction purchase, thrilled to have two left.

Drinking well now. Soft and resolved tannins.

More dark fruited and more advanced than the last bottle... but still very good. A treat!
