Great cool weather wine. Color is a dense, fairly saturated purple; just the slightest hint of ruby at the rim to indicate a little age. With aromatics and flavors of leather, black walnut (is there PS in here?), raspberry jam, black pepper, and blackberry, this takes you a few directions before settling in as generically Rhône-ish. Don’t know that I’d pick it out as Mourvèdre, necessarily, but either way it’s well-balanced and (surprisingly for the 15%abv and age) not hot on the finish. Rich, sure, but balanced acidity.
