  Going “back in time” a bit for a Texas wine is always a great treat. This 2009 Cabernet from McPherson is holding up well over the years. The cork is intact, no funkiness or vulgar vinegar smell. We might have lucked out, but our cellar has proven to do wonders in keeping a nice library stock of Texas wines. It is a clean red wine and still easy to drink. You will want to let it breathe for about an hour or so to properly unfold. At the first pour, it looks like a somewhat translucent ruby red color, yet still holding most of its vibrant hue well. There are discernable cherry notes and good fruit flavors hanging in with the moderate acids and tannins. It has a slightly tantalizing finish to round things out. Pretty darn good for an ol’gal. Not sure if anyone else still has any bottles cellaring, but if you do, still very enjoyable!
