Dark purple nearly black color. A lot of fruit notes left on the palate - dark cherries, blackcurrant, licorice, coffee, cinnamon and aceto balsamico. Very concentrated and dense structure. Tannins are present but nicely integrated. Full bodied - a little too heavy for my palate. Medium long finish. In a good drinking window right now.

Nose is initially tight, like cheap chianti, but opens up to show some nice raspberry, boysenberry, and pepper. Taste: wow - big, enveloping mouthfeel. More palate on the nose + great chocolate. Port-like on the finish and also on how hedonistic and pleasurable this is. Bitter on day two, so drink up!

Amarone Families (New York Public Library): The nose showed blackberry jam, plum, dry cherries, herbs and mineral tones. On the palate, it was rich yet juicy with flavors of black cherry and dark chocolate. The finish showed intense fruit with a bitter twang, which kept it grounded in reality and perfectly enjoyable.
