Still plenty of distinctive fruit character and body, that I can only describe as Australian Shiraz with a twist. No sign of rolling over the hill yet, and some of the (slightly) rough edges seem to have smoothed out nicely.

Fruity, vanilla and sherry notes. A bit of chocolate and some strong, dark cherry. Lots of intensity, but maybe it needs more time to moderate and balance out. Ironically, I'm rating this higher the second time through, although my adjectives are lower. No way is this a 94 pt, but it is a super-pleasurable 90+ pter.
[24 hours] Definitely improves with a day of air. Licorice-sherry with a touch of chocolate and cherry. Very nice flavor combo.

Blackberry with light Chocolate and Coffee at first. A few hours is required before the cherry fruit opens. A touch of flinty pencil. Light tannins, and pleasant acidity. Follow through a little short, which with the acid and fruit makes it feel fresh rather than deep. Interesting complexity and balance. I've never really liked Merlot, but this makes a believer of me. It reminds me of decent Rioja, without the vanilla; that's meant as a complement.
