Thin was a very good description. Actually pretty disappointing for the amount of money I paid for the wine in 2012 but then again, it is 11years old now. Definitely should be opened at this point.

I first popped and poured, but after one glass decided to decant. The wine is high toned on the nose and front/mid palate with fresh blackberry and dark cherry, but woody, dusty tannins then quickly take over into the finish. The fruit is pretty thin, acidity is medium plus, but tannins remain high. I don’t know how the wine was made but it seems like the oak was pretty high with all the woody tannin finish I’m getting, although there isn’t any of the vanilla or caramel you’d usually get from too much new oak. While the wine is out of balance because the fruit is so thin, I still enjoy it in it’s interesting state of maturity (as it tastes older than 10 years) because of it’s almost rustic old world style. And while being out of balance in a high tannin, rustic way has it’s charms... it’s not charming enough for it’s original $100 price tag. Fortunately, I bought this at auction for $40.

Just a little thin, might have waited too long with this bottle...
LVG made a pasta dish with bolognese
Went well

This 2010 vintage still drinks really well. Light to medium body, Cherry fruit, and notes of black peppercorns.
