This was a great surprise. Bio/natural wines can be strange sometimes, but this was really complex and nice. Floral, cattle and herbal notes, very mild and enticing. More complexity on the palate than the nose. White Rhone character but with Provencal elegance and lightness.

A private lunch (Restaurant Hibiscus **, London, UK): Magnum. Muscat, Chardonnay, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc. Complex and estery aromatics, juicy and rounded but fresh and mineral, energetic and pure, flowers and flint, citrus and crème patissière, good length. Ageing very well.

Intriguing, intense, spicy, tropical nose. Expecting it to be rounder in the mouth, but relatively fresh and textured/leesy. Pleasant undertow of oak following creamy tropical fruit. Lots going on if not served too cold.

Weird, feral, funky dry white from St-Remy. It has some VA and perhaps a touch of brett. Has a nice balance between sweet and savoury. There are some cheesy notes and a touch of meaty paw paw like fruit. It is textural and rich with decent length.

Slightly lifted nose of oxidative appley fruit with a sour twist. Varnish, resin and peppery spice. Dry with round but refreshing palatal feel. Full of stuff. Bitter grapefruit, leesy richness, liquorice, spices and varnish. Alcohol keeping under the radar. Mid-length finish. Cheeky wine with a serious side.
