  • Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley for lunch. Limited note taking.
From a half bottle with our starters. This wine still displayed a veneer of wood both on the nose and palate, but the nectarine aromatic fruit was more than match for this. Good viscous mouth feel with just the right amount of acid backbone to prevent any flabbiness in the structure.
Good now but barely at its plateau; would suggest an optimum drinking window of 1-3 years from now. Should gain a point. Excellent.

  • Full of peaches, anise and some wood spice. There's a touch of straw and minerals to the aroma also. It is dense and compact with good intensity and length for its level. Needs a couple of years to open up.

  • Quite young and very oaky at this stage. Some citrus notes on the nose, touch of sweet apple but really at this age the oak kills the rest of the wine. We would suggest waiting for a few more years and hope. 88 at the moment.
