  • I wish I had more of this wine. Decanted 30 mins ahead and sampled over the next hour. Medium ruby-garnet color. Very fragrant nose of hard spices, cherries, bay leaf, cooked blackberry. Medium-bodied, rich, and balanced on the palate, with little sign of acidity amid dark flavors; coffee notes showed up later. The acid balance is relaxed, neither firm nor tart nor soft. Finishes well, with leather notes, light grip and zero tannins. This wine has really come to life; it jumps out of the glass with dark-spectrum aromas and flavors. Gives me hope for my other vintages of Tempranillo and for Bokisch in general. This wine has one of the best QPRs anywhere on earth.

  • One of my favorites! Well balanced. Dark red color with definite spice/clove overtones with a bit of fruit. A bit of blackberry and nutmeg. Long finish and medium tannins. Great with without food or with food (red sauces, steak, salmon). Enjoyable at nice value.

  • My second bottle of this wine; notes made without consulting previous tasting. Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Deep ruby color. Very nice nose of cherries, leather, tobacco, coffee, cloves. Medium-bodied and rich on the palate, as blackberries and allspice notes join in. Acid balance seems correctly firm, neither too tart nor too soft; it hits a sweet spot. Finishes well, with orange peel notes over light tannins and good moderate grip. This wine hits it on the head. It's rich but not overpowering. Spicy but not over-oaked. Will likely hold or maybe even improve over the near term.

  • Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Deep ruby color. Very nice nose with a package of aromas including hard spices, rhubarb, black cherries, tea notes. Delicious flavors that combine plum, cherry, and leather in a medium body with moderately firm acidity. Neither soft nor tart, a sweet spot. Finishes nicely with a bit of grip, licorice notes, and velvety tannins that are light but present. This is a consistently excellent bottle of vino, full of flavors and aromas in a well-balanced package; it might be even better after a couple of years. And, at $21 one of the best QPRs in CA. One needs to acquire this wine.

(Bokisch Vineyards Tempranillo) Dark cherry red color; appealing, aromatic, ripe cherry, ripe berry, baked cherry nose; silky textured, juicy, tart cherry, red berry palate with balance; could use 1-2 years; reminiscent of a Rioja Joven Tempranillo; medium-plus finish 90+ points
