  • The 1998 Tahbilk Shiraz 1933 Vines Reserve is dark garnet in colour with a nose of riped stewed sweet prunes, over riped plums, lots of spice - particularly ground black pepper, fragrant dried roses and dusty rosewood.

On the palate, an entry of nice pure sweetness reminding one of sweet raisins. The mid palate boasts soft stewed sour prunes with a very velvety texture. Tannins have thinned out quite a bit but still firm and makes its point. Balance retains pretty well with structure as much as things have fallen apart by now - particularly its fruit flavours. Nonetheless, holding if you want to drink it now and I expect no other later years to be honest. Quite high in viscosity with a back end spice on the medium (-) finish with a little rising alcohol.
