Interesting. At first the aromatics are reminiscent of red Burgundy. Dusty, spicy red cherries, iron, and minerals. The palate on the other hand screams Bordeaux. Earthy, cedar, rich black fruits, minerals, as well as spice and dusty tannins. The acidity is still well intact as is the purity of the fruit. Pretty impressive actually, particularly compared to the new vintages of this bottling, which are fantastic, but different in style.

($40) A nose reminiscent of bad vintage Bordeaux. Oaky smelling and tasting. Tawny and clearing. Bell pepper, red fruit, acid. Medium bodied. Extremely disappointing. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (43%), Cabernet Franc (37%), and Merlot (30%).

Dallas 2nd Wednesday Group - September 2010 (The Green Room, Dallas, Texas): Tasted at a wine dinner. Opened and served immediately. 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot. Garnet color in the glass, fairly clear looking. Stops there. Corked. Shame.
