  • Churchill's LBV 1992 (not Graham's), bottled 1998 (without filtration).

Nose: Initially very mature but refined and clear read and dark berries fruit, gradually giving way to more warm and dried fruits like prunes and dried yellow plums. A hint of dust. Displaying very typical bottle aged aromas.
Taste & palate: Lovely balance and harmony. Spicy and minerally in the typical fiery manner of good Ports (and other Douro's). Again the smoothness of bottle ageing is very evident.

A lovely 22 year old LBV, still going strong. This will round the 25 year mark without problems.
So what might remain to want in this wine? Despite its lovely balance and quite a bit of elegance it's perhaps not very deep. But what it lacks in depth and perhaps a bit on the complexity side I would say it makes nicely up for with its elegance and balance.
I don't think many +20 year old LBVs would do much better than this.
