  • From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose was reticent for and hour or two but after and aeration showed lemons, orchard fruit, vanilla, and white stone.

In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with solid acidity under mounds of fruit and glycerin. It was reasonably well integrated and had good length.

If you are looking for classic Chablis this is probably not your wine. It was too rich and ripe for that with noticeable vanilla (oak). However, if you are just looking for a drinkable white Burg that is not premoxed, this is worth a try. Well stored bottles should last another 10 years or so.

  • Stunning, bottle is in great condition and is drinking beautifully. Big, broad, honey, sherry, nutty, floral, on the lose, but oozes lemon curd on the palate with oxidative notes but still having this beautiful lemony chalky tones that makes it seem so much more than what it is. My third bottle of 97 Chablis from Verget and none of them have been oxidized, even though they are different wines.

  • First of four bottles. Oxidative, rich sherry nutty notes, but still has a lemony freshness. At it's peak, maybe past it, but still a really rich white burg that over-delivers for Chablis and is more like a cote d'or grand cru, corton_charlamagne perhaps. Really a pleasant surprise, and have had a good experience with other '97 Chablis from Verget, so can attest to low likelihood of premoxed wine. Can't believe it still drinks so well.

  • 94. This is a truly wonderful wine. The balance, crisp with a minerality and green fruit that was outstanding. Long on the palate and a new favorite.

  • Bought a case at auction a year ago. Have had 10 bottles with no pre-mox. Had most recently last evening. Very nice white Burg that is softer and rounder than younger Chablis, but very enjoyable.
