I was surprised by this wine. It is not a typical viognier at all. It is oaked and not crisp or acidic. That said, I liked it. Creamy pear, flan, caramel pear flan. You get the sense. Closer to a chard than a typical viognier but quite delightful.

FROM THE MAILER - First release of this viognier. Sanford and Benedict Vyd. known for Pinot noir. Some of this fruit goes into the Fleur De Domaine, this is the first varietal bottling. Aromas of jasmine, honeysuckle and apricot. Complex fruit flavors, rich texture balanced by acidity. Will pair well with Asian and Mediterranean dishes. WINE CLUB/TASTING ROOM EXCLUSIVE 14.5% alc.

Black pepper nose. Dry and peppery. Not a typical viognier. Unripe peach. Eddie thinks it goes with Chili, I'd like to try it with the F&W recipe (July 2013?) bacon wrapped trout and butter beans!
