A dullard of a merlot. I can see why Sashi Moorman was so eager to hand over the responsibility for this wine to his vineyard workers! Most of this ended up in the sauce we ate the following day.

Dark ruby red color. An interesting nose of sour plum, milk chocolate, leather. The fruit is a little muddled, but overall a very good bottle. It has nice balance, and it has some character.

Nice color that was purple with a garnet edge...interesting nose showing some dark berries and maybe a little choclolate...and that said it did seem a touch rustic, as did the palate, as there was not a whole lot going on, rather linear and firm grip with a medium edge to it.

Each year Stolpman lets its farming crew farm a block of grapes ever how they see fit. The winemaker then ferments the grapes and makes wine from them. In 2006, the farming crew elected to farm a block of high-density planted Merlot. This 100% Merlot was made entirely from those grapes. I liked the bouquet on this wine: notes of leather, chocolate, and cherry intertwined to present an overall sweet-smelling wine. The wine was purple-garnet in color, with medium-deep depth. This medium-bodied wine featured a spicy and chalky palate along with an off-putting soapy element. I was hoping for more fruits.

Enjoyable, and easy to drink. Chocolate and leather notes, with dark berry flavors. Simple.
