Hunter Wineries (1) - Mt PLeasant & McDonald Rd: {screwcap, 13.5%, A$25} Simple red-fruit nose’; strawberries, blackberries. You taste the McLaren Vale fruit, that’s for sure. Little oak; the medium grippy tannins all seem grape-derived rather than oak. The jubey flabours don’t conceal a certain coarseness of texture that doesn’t quite manage to be rustic. A medium-bodied quaffer with a short-medium length dry finish.
