I like almost all of Jeff Cohn's wines, but I think I waited a bit too long on this one. Dark plum and warm spice nose. Somehat muted flavors of plums and blackberries on the palate. Nicely resolved tannins and good acidity. Not a lot of secondary flavors here. A bit of spice on the back of the palate. Moderately long finish echoing the front of the palate. The impression I get is that the fruit was probably more vibrant 2 or 3 years ago, but not bad at all right now. I'd drink these up in the near future. This is a nice wine now, but probably had more to offer earlier.

chilled this wine on a warm summer day and it was much better than the bottle this winter. Did not get the oak, and it had an enjoyable leaness for a big Zin. Wonderful transformation with cooling it on a warm day.

A touch heavy for my tastes and some back end oak. However, I occasionally like a hit of oak. But usually I don't want to perceive the taste of oak in a wine. I drank this as a cocktail and enjoyed it. Laura says medicinal, perhaps cough syrup on the second day (to heavy to finish). I don't agree.

This was excellent. Nose of blackberry and black pepper. Mouth coating with strong tannins that really grab you. Flavors of dark berries, earth, and black pepper. Finish is medium with a hint of fresh strawberries. You would never know this a big zin at 15.5%. RRV zin done right!

Popped and poured, opaque purple with legs in the glass, bouquet of blackberries and forest floor, jammy black fruit and pepper on the palate with some grippy tannins and a bit of spice, probably muted by the competition from dinner, silky mouthfeel, medium finish. It's what a big zin should taste like (unlike the Dashe zin the other night), and singing now, too bad it was the one and only bottle.
