  • Rather sweet fruit nose, almost like Grand Marnier, touch of spice; on the palate easy, smooth, slightly sweet, juicy but also a bit soft, flabby even; decent length. Nice enough, but one would be really be hoping for more elegance and finesse from these exalted terroirs.

  • Nose: Virtually the same as the VSOP [tropical].

Palate: Similar to the VSOP, but a bit "more" and richer than the VSOP. There's actual tropical fruit here now, but there's also a steady dose of sugar water. The sweetness, though, borders are artificial sweetener and reminds me of sugar-free Snapple.

Finish: A little drier and woodier than the VSOP, though about the same. In general, the robust fruit on the palate just exacerbated the artificial quality and sweetener. The nose was pleasant, but this is an adulterated spirit, and, it's designed to please a bit and remain fairly innocuous, especially in a mixer. As far as an independent sipper, though, I'll be glad to pass on it. C- (72ish)
