Still tasting great; this Barolo cousin from California is excellent right now !! I agree with my tasting note of 5 months ago !! Flawlessly aged and a truly glorious expression of Nebbiolo; many try in the new world, but few succeed with this king of the Pedmont !! The composite cork was perfect after a decade and a half in the bottle. Consumed at dinner with friends. This gently aged Nebbiolo showing varietally accurate fruit and acid. Ruby color with modest oxidation noted on the edges, clarity medium. Please be gentle, there is lots of sediment in this bottling. Aromas of plum, mushroom, and sandalwood. Flavors of plum, fig, and tar with a touch of spice. A medium to long finish on this flavorful Nebbiolo. This wine was delicious upon release and still has many more years of life left. Fortunately, I still have two more bottles of this vintage in my cellar and will revisit within a year to validate my tasting notes. Great fruit from Honea Vineyard and great winemaking from Steve Clifton.

This Barolo cousin from California is excellent right now !! Flawlessly aged and a truly glorious expression of Nebbiolo; many try in the new world, but few succeed with this king of the Pedmont !! The composite cork was perfect after a decade and a half in the bottle. Consumed over two days. Popped and poured this gently aged Nebbiolo showing varietally accurate fruit and acid. On day two, the wine had softened with increased depth and integrated complexity. Ruby color with modest oxidation noted on the edges, clarity medium. Be gentle, lots of sediment in this bottling. Aromas of plum, mushroom, and sandalwood. Flavors of plum, fig, and tar with a touch of spice. A medium to long finish on this flavorful Nebbiolo. If you like Nebbiolo (like me), this a a terrific one and after 14 years is starting to mature. It’s really, really good...but it definitely needs about an hour to decant...and food. Yeah, this is a great wine.

Tastes like the juicy memory of your first Strawberry Leather-Mint Barbaresco. Delicious. Brought second bottle to Plumed Horse. Better still--tho drinking from a decanter designed by A. Gaudí has to add a point! Not sure where these low scores are from, but diplomatically will say only: PROVENANCE-PROVENANCE-PROVENANCE. Cheers!
