Bought on a whim to make up a case. Inspired purchase! Opened to assess, breathed for an hour. The basic frame is fresh Bramley Apple and then a hit of oriental herbs and spices, citrus zest and tongue coating viscosity - but completely dry. In spite of this complexity (and excellent length), still quite tight and with a lot more to offer with time. Will drink next in 2016 and report back. Should be very fine for at least ten years from vintage. 92+
Pale yellow and lite in the glass. Perfumed ginger/garlic, tart citrus, nuts, seeds, granny apple, spice and flower shop on the nose. Lite body, complex and juicy with an almost jammy character. Roasted nuts, lemon oil, honey, tart apple, flowers, Asian spice, tea and anise on the palate. Nice acidic profile cuts thru the chewiness along with lingering mineral angularity. Med-long finish. Proly’ some of the best Riesling coming out of California.
