Pristine bottle, perfect cork. Very similar to my tasting note from January 2016. On the nose the strawberry fruit is developing a slight, candied edge, which adds a lovely complexity; the palate is beautifully transparent, fully mature but still energetic; good length. Attractive, but time to drink up. One bottle left.

Confirms the positive impressions from last year. Open and expressive nose, almost sexy, mature aromas of smoky undergrowth, rosehip and macerated strawberries, displays warmth from the wood and mineral depth; slender palate but not without some generosity, juicy freshness, fine-tuned tannins; lovely finish, complete, very good length. A very individualistic style, showing well.

Hallelujah! After two disappointing bottles, I was close to giving up hope for this wine but this third one is really singing. Fully mature appearance with an appealing red core; the nose has opened up very nicely and, while remaining fresh, is starting develop some tertiary aromas, rosehip and undergrowth, hints of violet and strawberry; the palate is still cool and mineral, but the structure has released some of its grip and the texture has become silky and some soft and ripe fruit has emerged, clean flavours of good intensity; good length. Has suddenly acquired the charm and elegance that were so conspicuously absent before.

This is either in deep hibernation (which Baden Pinot Noir does not tend to do) or this is as thin and diluted as it seems. Fully mature appearance; mature rosehip, smoke and undergrowth aromas, quite attractive; the palate has some sweetness but there also is a distinct feeling of dryness in the tannins and the flavours are starting to veer towards cold tea and lovage; moderate length. Four bottles left but I entertain little hope. Retaste 2015.
