Still not sure what the blend is here, as it seems to change depending on vintage. Looks pretty advanced in age. I gave it plenty of air and it helped a little. Smells quite smokey, not necessarily oaky but just spicy and a little leathery. Shows some stewed plums and a little cassis and raspberry, bit of dark chocolate vibe to it. A little rotundone/peppery note which is nice. Stewed, chocolatey dense fruit on the front palate, which finishes pretty abruptly. Some pretty tart sourness and a fair bit of alcohol heat on the finish. Chewy, astringent tannins. Not very balanced.
Overall, quite pricey for what it is. Heading into a spectrum of those anonymous aged dry red characters. Think I caught it on the downhill slide before the fruit faded completely. Can't see it improving.
