Barolo Tasting (Restaurant Krietsch, Schwäbisch Gmünd): Wines tasted blind. Opened a few hours before the tasting. Glass: WMF red Wine Clear, deep garnet with light orange reflexes. Beautiful, almost intoxicating nose with fine herbs, spices. Ethereal and complex. On the palate modern Barolo, some vanilla, very dense and concentrated, velvet high tannin, beautiful texture. Power, but also fresh. Only downside is, you can really feel the 14,5% abv, which makes it partially hot. Very long and lingering. At its full peak 93-94

Much better than a previous bottle I had several months ago; The fruit is still fairly ripe, but with about 4 hours of air, it settled down to reveal some underlying earthy and floral notes

Did not enjoy this bottle as much as my last; This bottle felt very hot and slightly disjointed, with a jammy palate of dark fruits, licorice and lots of oak; It was a little difficult for me to even recognize this as Barolo, as I could barely detect the classic tar and violet notes; Maybe an off bottle, but I'm going to hope that these improve with more cellar time

My first experience with Parusso, and it's fairly stylish and tasty despite being a bit more modern than I usually prefer; nose is very unyielding at first, but begins to open after about 2 hours in the decanter; the palate features some toasty oak and very concentrated flavors of cherries, plums and licorice, all leading to a fairly lengthy finish; After 4-5 hours, I was finally able to coax out some of the secondary earth and tar flavors that I love in aged Barolo, but this bottle was more about the fruit in its current state; I recommend giving this several hours of air and I will plan to stash several of these away, as I think this has plenty of life ahead

Just lovely. Delicate for a barolo which reminded me of a Margaux.
