This medium ruby wine is immediately expressive of raspberry, coriander, loam and smoke aromas. It is medium-bodied and fresh on the palate, with light sweet tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.1%). The flavors mirror the nose and the middle palate is solid. The finish is crisp and medium in length. This is a well-made Pinot from the Central Coast which avoids any of the over-ripe qualities which (to my palate) detract from many of the region's wines. It should drink nicely over the next five years. Drink now-2018.

The wine is a nice medium ruby red color. The sensuous nose features black cherries, baking spices, forest floor, black raspberries, wild flowers, a pleasing, subtle herbal note and a touch of smoke. The wine has medium body, soft, ripe tannins, and very good acidity. On the palate the tart cherries and juicy berries allow the nice spice and earthiness to come in providing additional depth and complexity. The finish has very nice length but needs a touch of cellar time to fill out a bit. This needs a bit of cellar time to really strut it's stuff, but is none the less still delicious as is. With the nice acidity and balance this has several years of great drinking in the future.

For the price point, this is a very good wine. It is so hard to find a decent pinot under $40 but this one hits the mark.
