This is solid fruit, some greenness in the nose and the mouth as well - which I like. A bit oaky at first but it seems to dissipate a little, kinda in your face wine that lacks little finesse.

This is pretty good Carmenere. For lots of reasons, from the unusual 2011 weather pattern, to the single vineyard bottling and including the addition of 15% Syrah, this is not your everyday grocery store Carmenere. It still has that rustic, cloves meets green pepper and cloves flavor and aroma, just in a very civilized manner. There are enough layers of complexity with fruit and non fruit items to break the 90 point glass ceiling. I really like the blueberry, boysenberry contribution from the Syrah. All kinds of fruit flavors, mostly dark like mulberry, dark cherry and blackberry. Hints of smoke, spice, pepper, wet leather, graphite, gun metal and wet earth. More rounded and smooth than most of the Carmenere's I've tasted. Pretty big hit of new oak. Think the extra year or so of bottle age has helped toned down some of the rusticity.

Too much oak, not well balanced. Got better after sting it for 3 hours.

Good note great and probably not worth the $22 tag
