My first Macedonian wine and my first Vranec. Beautiful on the nose with shy floral and ripe fruit notes. Beautiful on the palate with powerful black tea notes along with an elegance and poise. Shows wood aging but this is softened and easy now. Very long finish that seems chewier than on the attack. Very pleasant.

Mismash of hasty impressions from Winebow and Regal Portfolio Tastings (NYC): (Vranec is the Macedonian spelling of Vranac). Dark and thick, very Spanish style old wood elevage nose, palate offers the sweetened results of oak elevage along with a bright cantaloupe fruit nose, all with acid and balance. Big fruit finish helps explain why this sells so well at its price point.

First night, popped and poured, straight ahead fresh dark berries, good balance, short finish, enjoyable but not as interesting as I remembered it.
Second night there's more going on, it certainly benefited from some air. Earth, olive, and sap, and a longer (medium length) finish. Good acidity and freshness to the lush dark fruit. Nice wine.

Youthful, purple, opaque.
Slightly leathery nose, a hint of red fruit.
Fruity, tannic, smoothish mid palate, quite long.

Attractive, peppery black fruits on the nose. Sweetish fruit on the palate, with grippy tannins. Feels a bit young and raw on the palate. Needs food.
