Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Cellared since release. Curious bottle -- some sulfur still in the nose and the acidity is rather sharp. The wine is firm with plenty of minerality, but not much fruit showing. A bottle lacking generosity.

There are various bottlings of this wine. This was a late bottling -- last digits of APN 041 12. 12.0% stated alcohol.

  • Apple, light petrol, citrus pith. This is a Spatlese trocken. Very mineral aromas. A very pretty, underlying tree fruit profile. Creamy, pasty, paper mâché aromas. Peaches and cream finish.

Later that night after 12 hours open.
Apple and pear aroma. Palate shows precise over, over-blown. Some real extractive snap to the palate. Palate shows lime as a margarita and minerality as an iceberg. Lots of frosty notes. A days worth of air finds this wine showing great.
Day 4. Mineral and salty lime aromas. On the palate, a candied lavender. Really holding well.

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner.

Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Tight nose of spice, apricot, peach and wet stones. Flavors of peach, apricot and cherry. Medium acidity, medium body. Drink or hold.
