  • Made the mistake of not decanting this wine early enough but like most innocent mistakes, the consequence was an interesting learning experience.

Deep, bright purple-crimson, upon opening and for the first two hours, it was full of black tar and extreme licorice. At this stage, it was not exactly an elegant or balanced wine possessing a very linear body and a thin finish with a very grippy mouthfeel.

Then magic happened after 2.5 hours, layers of beautiful fruits and aroma began to emerge yielding white flowers, vanilla, dark fruits, plums, graceful tannin and a finish that began to display some aged notes - cigar and spice. It became a wine a lovely proportions.

Drink in 7+ years but if you must drink it now, a long decant of 2 hours plus is essential.
