A great wine... full bodied, round, sexy Syrah with a glass full of white flowers and blue fruit... reminds me of the 2006 Tor Kenward Rock Hudson Vineyard Syrah which screams of blue Bic pen ink in a glass. To put it in more culinary terms... there was squid ink in my glass tonight, and I loved it. A pleasure wine and a good value. Drinks great straight out of the bottle.
There is some red fruit on the nose, but it's slightly overcome by the heat. The palate is another story. Beautiful strawberry, white pepper, blueberry. Balanced acidity gives this wine some spunk. Nice finish that is fruit focused. Paired with BBQ pork, brisket.
Same as my "Day 2" CT notes on 10/13/2015. Still not not a whole lot of flavor action on this wine. Some ok plum and olive notes, but that's about it.
My last bottle. No more Patrina for me. I'll stick with the Reva, which is night and day compared to the Patrina in terms of layered flavor, intensity, and quality for what's in the bottle. The Reva is fantastic.
Rich and explosive upon opening, with evident oak and powerful fruit. The wine shut down rather quickly, perhaps indicating a dumb phase for a few more years. Some green emerged, and the wine appeared to lack concentration, though I doubt this will be the case with more bottle age. I don't remember 2010 being as hot vintage has this bottle would indicate.
