Flawed cork with obvious signs of seepage. Fortunately, the wine is in excellent shape! Round, mouth coating tannins add a fleeting youthful character. An excellent Mid-bodied Barbaresco normale with vibrant cranberry, cherry, and orange peel notes and a hint of menthol. Slight acetone aroma, which I enjoy. After about 3 hours in the decanter, a vegetal bitterness crept in and the wine lost much of its inital appeal. Not sure what that's about, but my experience is consistent with the bottle we opened a few weeks ago.

Very well made structured wine . Wonderful nose and good acidity . Great Sunday afternoon wine with pasta , meats and some cheese . Still has some time to go .

Bouchon sec.... Déjà tuilé et étonnement foncé. Un peu de cuir au nez. Un manque de fruits et une acidité et astringence qui donne peu de plaisir malheureusement. comme on dit... C'est raide!

Blinds at Eric's (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. While the palate was (fortunately) much, much better than the nose, there's a heinous amount of Sharpie marker on the nose that was really, really off-putting. Yes, swirling helped get rid of some of it, but it never dissipated, and I could never really get past it. The palate has a pretty firm tannic structure as well as some fairly racy acidity. It was fairly difficult for me to get a read on this one, as I found the nose terribly difficult to get past.

Bitter, harsh tannins masking fruit. Will fruit survive to see a softening of the tannins ? The fruit is there underneath.
