Interesting bottle. Super cloudy, tannin and fruit competing for front row, earth was wet smelling and musty...thought this may be a corked mess, thank god for patience. Came around like a shining burgundy from the d'Or...amazing memories of mid 90s Les Suchots vineyard by Mongeard Mugneret instantly came to mind. The earth integrated with the fruit [of note the fruit really was more tart wild strawberry than ripe, though a note of sweetness definitely led its presence to be a compliment than hinderance]. The wet earth opened into more of a clay/fresh dirt after a rainshower in the summer. Light with a power emerging from the tannic core...yes the wine remained cloudy-ish and the rim was not soft in transition yet I do not believe the wine was at fault...perhaps a few years too late. Either way, its worth the wait upon opening and its a bit funky for an american palate in ways, though definitely worth the adventure.
