Tasted as part of our group's monthly blind tasting. Theme was malbec. Dark and glass staining color. Funky nose that was pretty interesting. Earthy notes that weren't very pleasant upon tasting. Disjointed, not fun to drink. Maybe we just don't "get" malbec. Disappointing.

Amazing how a wine this dark in color, with a huge nose, is medium bodied on the palate - went great with grilled chicken and similar flavor profile to my note from 2/2013. 91+

Dark, opaque, inky rosewood color. Popped and poured, this has a nose flush with oak and sweet fruit aromas. On the palate this is very young tasting initially, with taut, tart tanins restricting the flavor profile. Decanted overight, this mellows significantly and definitely improves. The nose starts to take on secondary characteristics of pepper and tobacco, while the palate now encompasses blackerry-type fruit flavors. The wine still has plenty of backbone; I'd suggest at least three more years to make this more accessible. I'd be interested to try older vintages of this, as the structure seems to indicate plenty of aging potential. Despite its Bordelaise pedigree, this represents reasonably good value.

Needs 30 minutes to an hour to come together. Dark purple color. Huge nose - cedar, black cherry compote, plum, cedar. On palate, full body (but not cloying given nice acids) with a medium length finish with nice tannins. Flavor profile is similar to nose - would be excellent with steak or BBQ - its a big wine but very tasty. Would buy again. 90-91 range.
