Bottle breathe for 1 hour before serving. Typical Arnoux_Lachaux nose with right mix of flower, red fruit. The palate was initially powerful but quickly becomes gentle. This is very balanced but lack of excitement that I expected from this Domaine. The last one I tried was 2013 which is much better. Still enjoyable.

It took time to open up, first on the wooded side, earth and a bit mushroomy but after an hour or so the wine showed really beautifully, herbs, pine trees, menthol, a hint of tar and that végétal pinot style... really a disappointment turned into a stunner, Swann like... palate is youthful and vibrant, really enjoyable and drinkable... superb wine after all glad I opened it

100% Pinnot Noir from 5 vineyards (1.53 ha total) with eastern exposure and 50 yr old vines on average. 100% destemmed, no crushing, cold soaked 3-7 days. Aged in 30% new and 70% one year oak barrels. 12.8% Abv. Proprietors: Pascal and Florence (daughter of Robert Arnoux) Lachaux. Winemaker: Charles Lachaux (eldest of three sons in fifth generation).
A(ccuracy)=2: Med Deep ruby. Focused, subtle varietal. B(alance)=2: Delicate. Bit shy on vibrancy. C(omplexity)=2: Ripe berries, dried flowers, earth, smoke. D(epth)=2: Supple mouthfeel. Lingering finish.
Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,2] = 8/10
Exemplary village/"entry level" burgundy from high-end producer.
This wine meets the standard for the Vosne-Romanee complexity. Complex aroma with earth, spice, smoke, layered on very dark red fruits. Flavor complexity with a mix of lighter and darker red fruits - decidedly lighter than the aroma. Complex finish with cool chalkiness and a lingering tannin.
