  • Bright carmine at the rim - slightly steely floral nose. Medium to fullish bodied, slightly sweet on the palate with a rather bracing acidity, red cherry fruit and a slight citrus tang on the finish. It may relax with more cellar time, but at the moment it is all a bit too full on for me.

  • Pleasant, fruity nose with cherries. High acidity and lots of full body red fruits/berries. Bitter burnt/ ashy finish takes down my score.
Might have scored it higher paired with food though.

  • Nicely balanced and sweetly fruited. Aromas spanning from pomegranate to raisin (and everything between) with lots of spice, orange peal and coper penny. Medium bodied, good tannin, good acid, full and sweet through the middle, clean finish. Dramatically improved with a two hour decant and was drinking very well. I can feel the hand of the winemaker which disturbs my inner geek but this was delicious. I wonder how much new oak this sees (none, according to the producer's web site, rather 10 months in cement). Never noticed the 14% alcohol. Almost like a Pinot noir.

  • Young but very nice. Deep purple color. Cherry and herbs on the nose and palette. Medium finish.

  • I have little experience with Chianti Classico. We drank it directly out of the bottle with no decanting. I was expecting much more fruit and "freshness" compared to Chianti Classico Reserva (with which I am more familiar). Instead I found the fruit subdued under some fairly pronounced, hard edged tannins. In contrast my wife loved it.
