Dark ruby bordering on crimson in color, this wine revealed muted notes of blackberry, plum, bacon and gamey notes on the nose. The mouth feel brought slight hints of white pepper, forest floor, plum and garrigue along with juicy tannins. The finish was savory, firm and a little meaty.
At $10US, this is an outstanding QPR and a perfect match for me to enjoy tonight in front of the fireplace on a very cold December evening. Although not terribly complex, this is a very enjoyable wine.

EYE: dark purple/ruby->light ruby meniscus, M+ conc, day bright, M- visc, light tear stain. NOSE: raspberry & blackberry jam w/liqueur notes PALATE: sweet berry attack, M acidity quickly kicks in mid-palate and crescendoes as fruit fades into a spicy (black pepper), M+ tannin and slightly mineral finish with violet and black fruit notes. GRAPES: 40% grenache, 40% syrah and 20% mourvedre. OVERALL: acid spikes a bit mid-palate (I'd rate upper 80s if a bit more subdued), but serves as a nice foil for the rich fruit. Great QPR!

Medium bodied with fruit forward and a slightly tart finish.
