Wow what a wonderful wine. Super balanced not overly tannic nor acidic and smooth fruit which comes from an aged wine. This at 12 was really great. I don't get the scores on CT that post 85 or less.
Don't listen to those outliers. This is one of the better sub $20 wines out there especially at this age. This might be even higher in the score.

I am not a fan of these wines when they are young but I enjoy them a lot after 7+ years. Nice earth and the fruit is still coming through well. Finish is nice moderate tannin that lasts pretty well. It seems to be drinking rather well right now.

This took until the third day open until it finally showed everything. Super dark, almost black, core with brick brown edges. The aromas started as lots of spice and licorice, then on the second, especially the third day, there is a nice integrated full spice and black fruit, along with some meaty rustiness. Very full in the mouth with moderate longevity and loads of tannins. Showing characters of black fruit, stewed tomato, bay leaf, and black tea. With the age I was surprised that it still needed so much air time to open up. Though it's not drinking as well as it was a few years back.

Full bodied, muted fruits, mostly licorice and dark burnt toast, not much to enjoy. Not sure if it is just past prime or had a bad bottle.

Garnet to medium purple with medium rim. Blueberry and black cherry with a spice and acid cover. Strong acid pallet with fruit backing.
