Did not find this wine as impressive now as at the winery tasting. Fruit forward and a bit grapey overall, akin to a young barbera. Better balance on the 2nd and 3rd day. A food wine for me rather than a contemplative pinot.

Clear garnet with slight rim browning. Graphite, strawberry, anise. Medium to low acids, low tannins. Oak, plum, dates. Medium to short balanced finish.

There's a term - embarrassment of riches - that aptly describes Dutton-Goldfield's portfolio of pinot noirs, and Fox Den fits smack in the middle of it. CT suggested not touching this until 2015, and that's probably fair enough - but this bottle was very quite extraordinary on this particular evening.

Very well balanced, smooth, very nice floral nose, nice fruit, not very earthy, just as I prefer
