  • Dense, fully opaque and quite extracted dark cherry red color. The nose feels dark-toned, rich and quite sweet-toned with aromas of juicy dark berries, some sanguine iron tones, a little bit of alcohol, light vanilla character, a little bit of jammy red fruit and a touch of coffee chocolate. The wine feels ripe, round and gentle on the palate with mouthfillingly full body and rich, concentrated flavors of sweet dark fruits, sunny plummy fruit, licorice, some blackcurrant tones, a little bit of sweet mocha oak and toasty spice, light jammy red-toned fruits and a hint of extracted woody bitterness. The wine is lacking in structure even as the acidity feels medium-to-moderately high as the tannins typical of Tannat feel almost nonexistent - they lend some chewy textural feel, but they lack the vital sense of grip completely. The finish is sweet-toned, long and quite oaky with flavors of toasty oak spice, cacao nibs, plummy fruits, some extracted woody bitterness and a hint of pruney fruit. The high alcohol lends some noticeable sense of warmth to the aftertaste.

A very round, soft and generic new world red with no varietal character whatsoever - I would've thunk this was a Chilean Merlot or something along those lines had it been served blind. Seems like it has developed a little bit in 5 years, but still it hasn't turned any more complex or interesting. A very dull and predictable example of mass-produced plonk, yawn.

  • Decanted for over one hour. Vibrant aromas of espresso and dark chocolate on the nose, not much fruit. Medium to full bodied, flavors of dark bitter chocolate, espresso, some roasted notes and perhaps a little tart cherries. Firm and smooth tannins with good acidity. I agree with avp that it is very dominated by oak, but I don´t find it that hideous. There is not that harsh woody oak that I find off-putting. It is actually quite smooth and quaffable though the varietal is obscured by the barrel flavors.

  • Nasty sweet vanilla oak, lactic notes, cocoa and cappucino. There might be a whiff of cassis lift, but I'm not certain. It's hard to smell anything other than sweet oak aromas; smelling this blind I'd probably say it's some over-oaked Chardonnay.
Fullbodied palate with some ripe red-toned fruit, powdery tannins and mid-level acidity. And again the massive oak. Clover finish.
Hideous stuff. Oak dominates in and out and tannat has totally forgotten the safety word. Not a pretty thing to witness.
