Consumed over 3 nights with vin-vac to preserve. First night even after 90 minutes in the glass, this was primarily an Oak resin monster (81 points). Second night, after another 90 minutes in the glass, some fruit was breaking through the Oak resin (84 point). Third night and another 90 minutes in the glass, the overripe blackberries and black currant broke through the Oak wall and started to show some hints of being an acceptable wine (88 points). I've got another bottle and I'm not opening it for at least 5 more years. There is no evidence it would fall apart before then (and so what if it did? it's a horrible PQR now) and it might someday have a chance at being just a mediocre PQR, but at least enjoyable).

Still holding strong on this one. Cork was in great shape. Showing a bit of age but still mostly primary in fruit with touches of aging. Easy to drink but crossing the peak.
(4/5) - starting to show some orange and browning in color. (10/15) - The nose was all bell pepper and really lacking the fruit and spice it once had. I had a corked bottle not long ago and this wasn't corked but maybe just in a transition phase (16/20) - Similar to aroma, very muted fruit, more tobacco, earth, lacking the spice if once had. Maybe it's transitioning or maybe these should just be consumed younger than some of the single vineyard wines. (6/10) - Overall I'd say drink up if you have them and pick up some younger vintages or single vineyard designates.

I found this bottle in my cellar and figured I might as well give it a try. Was really surprised at how well made this wine is. Brought it to a BYOB restaurant in central Massachusetts and drank over 1 hour.
Initially on the nose it has lots of dark fruits, seductive leather, and dried figs. The palate is medium bodied, rich, velvety, and tannins have very nicely integrated. Almost no heat on the nose and minimal on the palate. Still fruit forward for an 8 year old wine. As we drank it over the course of the night it continued to evolve and show its age - more forest floor, dark volcanic soil, and part of my wants to say this has characteristics of Rutherford dust.
Great example of a reasonably priced, very well made wine that is easy drinking, works great with food, isn't stuffy and not pretending to be something else. Great QPR, great wine! Give it 45 minutes in the decant and it will reward you.
