This is almost identical to the producer's spätlese from the same vineyard and vintage noted in April this year. It is also a bright medium yellow. There are lemon-like boiled sweets, melon and pungent citrus on the nose, with aspects of cream, but it is slightly less ripe than the superior prädikat, as befits the category to which it belongs. The nose begins to fade after three hours. The palate is also proper kabinett, less obviously ripe and less concentrated than the spätlese. Almost very good plus again, but on this occasion this wine is the thinner of these two almost identical twins and the other twin offers more. That said, I am really quite pleased with the way Bockstein delivers in this vintage at both these levels.

Crumbly cork. Initially looking youthful, but goes full yellow. Slightly nutty nose which gives way to melon. A sleek and slightly creamy mouth builds in size to get close to spätlese level. Good length and, uncharacteristically for the vintage, ripe acids. Very good plus overall.

Greenish-tinged yellowish-straw colour. Lovely nose that has seashore, quartz, lots of flint and white peach. Light body, correct kabinett weight, very good concentration of mineral and white fruit flavours with a suggestion of salinity. Lovely flavour, style and concentration. Fine.

Light yellow. Still decent nose of apple, lemon and almonds. Very nice balanced flavours. Sweet but the acid is there.
