  Deep, rich, concentrated and slightly foursquare. The fruit quality is excellent - verging on slightly over ripe but with classy elevage in evidence. The palate is focused, although the overall impression is slightly opaque. Nice modulated and lengthy finish. If this wine showed a little more transparency, it would certainly be outstanding. It may well become better with a bit more bottle age... Try final bottle in 2020.

  Excellent Valpoicella - dusty tannins, smokey and slightly acrid oak (in a good way) - savory dry and black cherry fruit. Tobacco leaf. Firm, but balanced tannins. A hint of oxidation. 89 - 90 points - certainly excellent and is likely an outstanding example of its type.

  Medium-full balance. Chocolate cherry, bark and leather. Sub Le but drying tannins. Rich fruit, hint of mustard space adds interest. Outstanding and ready to drink. Excellent and balanced proportion.

  Beautiful balance of flavors in a supple package. Hints of cassis, earth and tobacco echo on palate. Expressive, not too tannic and drinking very well now.

  Ripe and balanced. Subtle tobacco, red fruits, soft (yet Italian) tannic structure. This is a complete wine that is drinking well now but will last for 5 more years. This came across as gentle and outstanding tonight.
