On the pop this came off pretty international, modern, and without much sense of place or personality, but it seemed to transition with a bit of airtime. Fairly dense coloring with garnet edges and bricking at the outer portion. Aromas of sour and black cherry, earthy funk, black tea, iron, and dry leaves. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, and flavors of sour and black cherry, lemon, black tea, and spice. I'd say it's about right at the sale price of $20, and not really in the same league as the standout BdMs that run a bit more, but a perfectly suitable pizza/pasta wine.

No detailed notes, but all four of us thought it was delicious at the end of dinner of chicken stew with mushrooms and a kale salad. Nice fruit, tannin well-integrated but definitely present. This wine was pretty evolved, but still has quite a bit of life left in it.

Leather, forest floor and dark fruit on the nose. Dark raspberry, sour cherry w grainy tannins.

still going strong. Rich raspberry fruit, sandlewood and earth on the nose. Smooth and seamless with similar taste.
