  • Dinner at Dibbs: Despite the producer's bad rep for obnoxious oak use, it was fully integrated here with only a hint of smokiness and bacon on the nose. The wine had an elegance and silkiness, along with a little spice that brought me to something like an Echezeaux. Vibrant and slightly sweet red fruit that clearly came from a strong vintage, a fine example of an aged Burgundy.

  • I am a fan of Dominique Laurent's wines. I haven't seen any significant oak signature on his wines that I have consumed from the 1995 - 2002 vintages. This was no exception.

In fact, this reminded me of the 1996 Clos des Epeneaux with the vibrant purity of fruit with the earthy dimensions of Pommard. It isn't as good as the previous wine but it is still an excellent representation of the terroir at half the price. As usual, highly recommend this wine for current consumption but still needs about an hour of air to fully reveal itself.
