  • It just occurred to me that this reminded me of Selosse, an oxidized style perhaps. Another feather in the cap. I will buy more of this!

  • I would agree with recent tasters and add after a few years the following: the bubbles are larger at first and settle into finer bubbles later. There is an oxidized note of age, which I like, and a deeper gold color to the wine. This is the first Cava, GR or other, that if you served me, I would have guessed was Champagne. Tell me this is BdB and I'd believe it. There are two advantages for me: price, it is lower than Champagne; and two, it is Not Champagne. Want to show someone what Cava can do?? The grapes are all indigenous Spanish Cava ones, Macabeo, Xarel.lo, and Perellada. An Ace for Spain!

  • A blend of Macabeu (42%), Parellada (33%) and Xarel-lo (25%). Minimum aging 36 months before disgorgement.

Slightly developed, medium deep lemon color. Really attractive, rich and pretty toasty nose with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, autolytic hazelnut notes, some yeasty tones, a sweet rubber hint, a little yellow raisin and a touch sweet smoke with a slightly oxidative undercurrent of caramel. A lot more developed and complex nose what you would expect from a Cava. Light, bone-dry and really lively on the palate, true to the Brut Nature style. There are intense flavors dominated by chalky minerality, fresh green apple notes and lime-driven citrus fruits. Underneath, there are more developed hints of bready and nutty autolysis, some smoke, a little yellow raisin and a hint of caramel; they bring lovely vinous character to this wine that feels otherwise very crisp, sharp and even slightly green. Very fine and gentle mousse, but still showing nice structure and persistence. The bracing acidity gives the wine tremendous structure. The finish is really crisp, complex and long with more obvious flavors of dusty chalk minerality, lime and green apples that leave behind more developed notes of roasted nuts, sweet raisined fruit and a hint of caramel.

A really light and mineral yet also surprisingly rich and complex Gran Reserva Cava that shows almost Côte des Blancs' Blanc de Blancs-style sophistication and elegance with a nice, noticeable Cava twist. The wine shows lovely freshness and focused sharpness paired with great vinous character that only a long aging on the lees can bring. This is a really convincing effort from the high-quality end of the Cava spectrum and shows tremendous value at 14,90€. Highly recommended.

  • A blend of Macabeu (42%), Parellada (33%) and Xarel-lo (25%). Minimum aging 36 months - this bottle was disgorged in 6/2014, thus the wine has been aged on the lees for approximately 60-65 months. No dosage.

Pale lime green color with faint yellow highlights. Very toasty, complex and elegant nose with aromas of smoke, roasted nuts, some almond paste and a hint of wizened stone fruits, maybe even a touch of yellow raisins? Bone-dry, crisp and lively on the palate with light body and laser-like focus. Though quite toasty with hints of nuttiness, some brioche and a hint of toasted bread, the wine is more about lime-lemony tart fruit and pronounced, even slightly bitter chalky minerality. Quite light and delicate compared to the other wines in the ATM range, but with remarkable intensity. Very structured with high acidity and persistent, medium-sized and quite sharp mousse. The crisp, mouth-cleansing finish is more about sharp, acid-driven flavors than about toasty richness with notes of lemony citrus fruits, herbal greenness, steely minerality and a hint of apple peel bitterness.

A really wonderful, focused and quite complex zéro-dosage Cava showing tremendous structure, attractive finesse and surprisingly rich autolytic character. Really lovely, pure and clean style with lots of layers. Stunning value at only 13€. Definitely not a Champagne, but a very potential challenger with a lot better QPR.

  • Spanish white wine tasting. (Riga): Disgorged Dec.2013.
Toast, light yeastiness (quite unusual, as I usually associate it with champagne), hazelnuts, even curry notes on the nose. Medium plus body, on a more rustic, heavy style, some minerality and creaminess on the palate. Some mild bitterness on the finish. With air there grew an aroma of old white wine, which was peculiar for such a young bottle, may be it was very slightly affected by TCA. (B/B-)
