  • #10-97, 7% abv. From half-bottle. There's an incredible variation in the colouration of eiswein, and this bottle lands on the relatively dark side of the spectrum; this has the color of an oloroso VORS or somesuch. A spicy nose, but with relatively muted fruit aromas. On the palate, this is incredibly sweet with tons of acidity, but otherwise lacks complexity, and extract too, but the sugar and acidity are definitely both very much amped up. Showing some decent age as well, with some Maillard flavours too.

  • So what's up with this wine? Dark caramel in color, it tasted more like a tawny port than an Eiswein. I've never seen an Eiswein this color, and I have to assume something is amiss. While it tasted OK, it was not what I expected at all.
