Stood up for several weeks. Decanted off fine sending. Now 2.5h after decant. Nice aromas of ripe black cherries crushed w just ripe blueberries, herbs, some dill, forest floor, and a hint of coconut. Palate w nice ripe red cherries, just ripe blueberries, bitter chocolate, dark forest floor, maybe some sandalwood?, herbs, and mild coconut. Excellent acids on a medium+ body and moderate tannins. Silky body. Nice finish of bitter chocolate, black and red cherries, herbs, earth, and some coconut and a bit of alcoholic heat. True to the variety although w plumper fruit than those from traditional rioja houses. Not sure if this sees American oak as traditional riojas but seems so with the dill and coconut flavors, which hasn't completely integrated yet. Despite its 14 yrs, this still tastes young, fresh, somewhat coiled and not offering everything at the moment. I think this can gain more complexity and integration with some more age. If I had another bottle, would wait another 5 yrs or so to see its evolution. Like this now but suspect it will be better in 5 yrs. 90+

(Quinta Cruz Tempranillo Reserve Pierce Ranch) Very dark ruby color; appealing, baked black fruit, baked berry, ginger cake, licorice, orange spice nose; tasty, rich, medium-bodied, complex, baked black fruit, licorice, ginger cake, tart plum, dried berry, orange spice palate; ready now but could use 1-2 years; medium-plus finish 92+ points (reminiscent of a good Chateauneuf-du-Pape; 14.1% alcohol; sample provided by winery)
