I'm giving this an 89 as it is a very good wine, it just was not made in the Amador County/Sierra foothills style, with which I am highly familiar. It struggles to be medium-bodied, it is elegant with some depth and complexity. I did not find it 100% varietally correct, as it lacked the spice and heft of foothill Zin, even at 15.4% alcohol. If I had this in a blind tasting, don't know that I would have picked it out as a Zin. It reminded me more of an elegant Dry Creek Valley Zin, and I did not think that was what I was buying. That said, I want to be fair and rate as to the quality of the wine...it just wasn't what I thought I was buying. I like their Old Vine Zin better, but Rombauer is the best in this price range. Drinking well now, but give it some air.

Perhaps one of the least hyped of the Turley lineup, this is almost shockingly understated for an Amador Zin. Nonetheless, it delivers a surprisingly elegant package, with great Zin-berry fruit in a package of suave cherry, briar, and rhubarb. It is decidedly middleweight for a foothill Zin, nimble and emphatic at the same time. My last bottle, one I wish I'd bought in greater quantity.

Very smooth, almost light for a Turley Zin. Enjoyable.
